Names of new EU commissioners published

The European Commission (EC) has published the names of its new commissioners. The 25 new commissioners will be led by the Ursula von der Leyen who has been elected as President of the European Commission before the summer holidays.

Interestingly enough, this group of commissioners will have the largest amount of women to date, with 13 roles.

10 Commissioners are affiliated with the Party of European Socialists (PES), nine are linked with the European People’s Party, six are associated with Renew Europe, one hails from the European Conservatives and Reformists and another from the European Greens.

Malta has nominated former EU Affairs and Equality Minister Helena Dalli, and according to media reports her portfolio is still “unclear”.
