MV Nikolaos service to be halted for two months

The fourth ferry service will be halted for two months due to the coronavirus outbreak in Malta.

In a statement, the Gozo Channel said that an agreement has been reached with the owners of MV Nikolaos to halt the service. The decision will come into effect from Monday 27 April.

For the next two months, the Gozo Channel will have three vessels to operate its schedule.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak in Malta, various restrictions have been put into place in order to curb the spread within the local community. Non-essential travel between the two islands has been banned and passengers crossing over are asked to state their reasons of why they would be traveling to the other island. Thermal scanning of passengers is also taking place.

The fourth ferry joined the fleet last June.
