Former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat will appear before the public inquiry board, the Times of Malta is reporting.
Joseph Muscat will be the most high profile person to testify before the inquiry board.
The public inquiry is tasked with among other things to determine whether the state did all it could to prevent the murder of investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. The inquiry board is made up of Judge Emeritus Michael Mallia, who is chairing the inquiry board, and Chief Justice Emeritus Joseph Said Pullicino and Judge Abigail Lofaro.
“I intend attending and replying to the questions of the Board of Inquiry which I myself appointed as Prime Minister,” Muscat told The Times of Malta.
On Wednesday it was reported that the former Prime Minister has been summoned to give his testimony on Friday. But until yesterday, Muscat had not confirmed his attendance.
Journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered close to her home on the 16th of October 2017. At the time Joseph Muscat was Malta’s Prime Minister.
