Following the publication of the NAO report on the Vitals deal, AD Chairperson Carmel Cacopardo said that the Auditor’s report on the Vitals public hospital concessions concludes very clearly that there was collusion between government and Vitals Global Healthcare.
AD called upon authorities to investigate Joseph Muscat and Konrad Mizzi as it’s already late.
“It is clear that the concessions were knowingly and purposely designed such that public assets were milked by Vitals to make huge gains, a classic case of public loss and private gain,” stated Cacopardo.
Alternattiva Demokratika continued to explain in a statement published shortly after the NAO report was published on Tuesday, that it is also now more than obvious that Labour Party’s star candidate and former Minister Konrad Mizzi ‘was afforded a free rein to collude with and favour private companies at the expense of the Maltese government and the state’.
AD stated that the report strengthens the conclusion of many that, ‘Konrad Mizzi entered politics to pursue his own private interests’.
PM Abela should now declare the agreement null – Repubblika
The anti-corruption NGO Repubblika has called on Prime Minister Robert Abela to declare the concession agreement of the 3 hospitals to Vitals Global Healthcare as null and void following the damning report by the National Audit Office.
In a statement issued shortly after the report was published Repubblika stated that Abela should pass on all the information in relation to the Vitals deal to the magisterial inquiry against former Minister Konrad Mizzi, former Minister Chris Cardona and Minister Edward Scicluna.
