The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses, MUMN has withdrawn the directives in realtion to the flu vaccination, announced Health Minister Chris Fearne.

On Friday, MUMN issued two new directives which came into effect immediately. The directives were issued as the government was according to the union pressuring nurses to work overtime and change rosters in order to be in a position to administer the Influenza Vaccine.

MUMN had also claimed that there are also attempts to recruit private nurses from private contractors in order to serve as strikebreakers.

On Sunday the service to administer the Influenza Vaccine was interrupted in various localities due to the MUMN directives. Following this situation, a meeting was expected to be held on Monday between the union and the government.
