On Saturday lawyer Bernard Grech was elected as the Nationalist Party’s next leader as he has obtained more votes than the incumbent, Adrian Delia.

Grech won the votes of 69.3% of the party members in an election where 18,361 out of 21,660 individuals voted.

Bartolo also said that he will never forget that this seat belongs to the people and they entrusted him to represent their hopes, their desires, their aspirations and their needs in Parliament.

In March Ivan Bartolo replaced Marthese Portelli in Parliament as he won the seat on the 9th district following a casual election. Ivan Bartolo had reached and exceeded the quota after the sixth count and obtained 2,206 votes.

Bartolo claimed that with his decision will give the Nationalist Party the right to start gaining the lost trust and to regain the confidence that it can be an alternative government.
