Mount Carmel kitchen to be upgraded; Employees to retain their work

Mount Carmel management is looking at options to continue to upgrade its kitchen and catering services for patients and staff, a spokesperson for the Health Ministry told Newsbook.com.mt.

Dismissing the claims that the hospital’s kitchen will be closed, the spokesperson said that its management were seeking to upgrade it. “All employees will retain their employment and conditions of work,” she told this newsroom.

In a statement on Friday morning, Solidarjetà Ħaddiema Partit Nazzjonalista expressed its solidarity with 30 Mount Carmel employees saying that the kitchen which was only recently renovated would be closed. In its statement Partit Nazzjonalista asked about the patients and who will be feeding them once the employees are fired.

It noted that the the action will not only negatively impact the employees and their families but also the patients treated at Mount Carmel.
