Over 900 individuals have applied to participate in the contact tracing scheme that was launched last week by the Malta Tourism Authority, MTA. The scheme was launched in conjunction with Malta Enterprise.

In a statement MTA said that the scheme has the aim of assisting the health authorities in providing a faster contact tracing service for persons that have been identified or tested positive for Covid-19.

MTA said that the initiative provides an opportunity for tourism sector employees who are experiencing the effects of the downturn in tourism business caused by the pandemic, to use their time productively whilst supplementing their current earnings.

The applications will now be vetted to ensure that the selected employees possess the necessary skills and attributes to carry out the tasks. Those selected may also be subjected to an interview by the health authorities.
