More technological measures will be taken to aid judicial procedures involving the Land Arbitration Board. This is where people appeal Government estimates of land expropriated for public use.
In a statement, Justice Minister Owen Bonnici said that this will benefit legal professionals and citizens alike. Bonnici continued to explain that “this measure offers lawyers the facility to electronically represent not only original appeals, but also responses to them.” The Minister went on to said that, apart from this, lawyers can also electronically pay court fees without having to the Court Registry.
The public can also use www.ecourts.gov.mt which offers: a search function for properties or objects to be auctioned; Hall usage information; an insolvency registry; a registration to receive updates on cases; the paying of fines; the paying of Court fees; eforms for secret testaments; and eforms for the Small Claims Tribunal; among others.
