Minister Justyne Caruana announced a rural directive focused on Gozo to strengthen the agricultural sector. She said that this would help the farmers and workers in the industry to apply and benefit from the EU funds.
During a meeting in Gozo, Minister Caruana said that despite the vulnerability of the agriculture sector, the European Union should be more involved in decision-making to ensure the best for the workers in this industry. She said that the aim of the Common Agricultural Policy is to provide equal opportunities for farmers in different countries.
The meeting was held at the same time as the European Citizens’ Consultation, the project involving citizens from all 27 Member States of the European Union into the debate about the Future of Europe.
