More Maltese people encouraged into self employment – Eurostat

According to new figures on self-employment in 2017, 33% of Maltese people surveyed said they became self-employed because they found a suitable opportunity.

This is 10% higher than the EU average percentage of 23% of those motivated to go into self-employment.

This information comes from a new release issued by the statistical agency Eurostat who were investigating the reasons and motivations for European’s decisions to enter self-employment.

It was also recorded among Maltese people that 20% were looking to continue a family business and a further 20% saw some value in getting experience in the field.
