Migrants that reached Maltese shores on MV Lifeline on June 27 have now been offered hositality also by Belgium, Ireland and Italy. Earlier on Prime Minister announced on Twitter that some of the migrants were already on their way to Norway yesterday.
Fifty one migrants had already gone to France days earlier and another group had been offered asylum by Luxembourg.
MV Lifeline had saved 234 immigrants and then was the centre of a tussle between Italy and Malta as to which country should welcome the ship in its harbours. After six days on the high seas it was agreed that Malta would offer refuge on condition that countries of the European Union would accept to take in the migrants.
