Minister for Education not satisfied with AUM

The Minister for Education Evarist Bartolo stated that he is not satisfied with the American University of Malta (AUM). This was said during the opening discussion of the bill regarding Further and Higher Education.

Bartolo added that he has become allergic to investors who say that they will bring thousands of students to Malta.

The Minister stated that Government does not have licenses to sell education. He explained that in order to open an educational institution, high-quality lectures ae required. Bartolo mentioned that currently, there are 13 different educational institutions in the Maltese Islands.

On the 26th of September, Moviment Graffitti announced that the highly controversial AUM campus extension was not approved.

A civil action group ‘Action: Give us Back our Land’ had requested all concerned parties to sign a petition objecting to the AUM’s extensions on Dock 1 and its environs in Cospicua.
