Minister for Home Affairs and National Security Michael Farrugia took part in ‘Security and Migration – Promoting Partnership and Resilience’ a conference promoted by the Justice and Home Affairs Committee of the EU Presidency in Austria. Amongst those that took part in the conference were representatives of EU and North African states, the United Nations and Interpol.
Minister Farrugia participated actively in various discussions and stressed on the need to reduce irregular migration, mutual support that EU states need to provide to each other, and to respect sovereignty and self-governance. He also held a number of bilateral meetings alongside the conference.
Topics on the agenda included asylum, migration, border protection, terrorism and security.
