Migrant workers are suffering ahead of the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022, according to a human rights watch report which was published today, Euronews reported.

The report reveals a systemic abuse of migrant worker rights and that many employers are withholding, delaying or arbitrarily deducting their workers’ wages.

The report states that the country relies heavily on migrant workers and without them daily life in Qatar would come to a complete halt.

According to the report, time is running out for Qatar to make the necessary changes to its labour laws and that once the public eye moves away after the World Cup in 2022, Qatar will not have the chance to set a legacy and be ahead in the Gulf when it comes to labour rights and laws.
