Metsola chosen as one of EPP’s negotiators on security and rule of law

Partit Nazzjonalista MEP Roberta Metsola was chosen as one of the ten MEPs to negotiate the priorities for the next five years on behalf of the European People’s Party. Metsola will be focusing on security and rule of law along with Spanish MEP Esteban González Pons.

This was revealed by Politico, in its early morning email newsletter, Playbook. A preparatory meeting in San Sebastian was held on Tuesday where ten MEPs, two per working group were invited, among which Metsola was named.

In her comments to, Metsola said that it is an honour for her to be chosen to negotiate on behalf of EPP. The MEP added that it she believes that consensus will be reached with other political groups at the European Parliament during negotiations on pressing issues for European citizens.

The four main political families at the European Parliament will initiate discussions on how to influence both the European Council’s strategic agenda and the European Commission’s priorities, to this end EPP has chosen ten negotiators.

The working groups have met in Brussels for the first time on Wednesday.
