Men kept under arrest accused of cannabis trafficking involvement

A 24 year old man from Cospicua and a 47 year old man from Żejtun are being kept under arrest after being arraigned in Court accused of drug trafficking seven kilograms of cannabis. They are also being accused of breaking the conditions another Court imposed on them. 

The prosecution requested the Court to freeze the accused assets, The Court presided by Magistrate Joe Mifsud accepted the request.

They pleaded not guilty but did not request bail.

Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri represented the man from Cospicua, while the man from Żejtun was represented by the lawyers Jacques Grima and Gianluca Caruana Curran.

A 40 year old Serbian man was also accused in connection with the same alleged drug trafficking.. The man also pleaded not guilty and is being kept under arrest.

The Serbian was also accused of associating with persons wanting to traffick cannabis,  being in possession of cocaine and r attempting to tamper evidence.

His lawyer, Joe Brincat, requested that he is freed from arrest due to family matters. However, this was denied after the Prosecution argued against it because of the seriousness of the matter.

The prosecution was led by Inspector Kevin Pulis.
