Two men were seen destroying the memorial of the assassinated investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Footage uploaded on Facebook by PN Member of Parliament Karol Aquilina shows two individuals throwing away the ornaments. Aquilina condemned this act by posting “Shame on you”.
The memorial, which is made up of candles, photos, messages and flowers, was placed at the Great Siege Monument in front of the Court.
Recently, video footage produced by French media also showed two men destroying the memorial.
The footage appears in the French investigative programme called ‘Enquête Exclusive,’ which was broadcast on French television. In the scene the two men are shown destroying the memorial and shouting that such actions at the monument should be illegal.
Justice Minister Owen Bonnici is understood to be responsible for the constant removal of any tributes to fallen journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia at the Great Siege monument in Valletta. This was revealed in court during a Constitutional hearing.
During the Constitutional Case filed by blogger Manuel Delia against the Government alleging a breach of the right to free speech due to constantly removing any tributes to the journalist, it was said that it was Minister Bonnici who gave the order early in September.
