Melvin Theuma, a state witness on the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia, has been discharged from hospital, more than two weeks after sustaining self-inflicted stab wounds.
On 21 July, Theuma had been found in his bedroom with injuries to his throat and torso, in an apparent suicide attempt.
He spent a number of days at Mater Dei Hospital’s Intensive Therapy Unit, but as his condition improved, he was moved to the ENT Ward on 27 July.
His throat injuries had initially left him unable to speak, though the Times of Malta reported on Thursday that he is now able to hold conversations unaided.
And on Friday, in their daily update on his condition, the police confirmed he had been discharged earlier in the day.
