The tragic loss of Carmel (Charlie) Borg is being mourned by many, with Facebook being flooded with heartfelt condolences. Borg was run over yesterday evening in Gudja, at the age of 67-years-old.
The incident occurred at around 8.20 pm yesterday evening, when he was hit by a Mercedes Benz in Bir Miftuħ Street, close to the Malta International Airport’s entrance.
The Imperial Band Club expressed its mourning at the loss via Facebook, saying that he has been an active member and a Committee member for several years. It expressed its deepest condolences to his wife Ann and her family, his father Joe, his brothers and sisters and their families, relatives and friends. The club also said that the details for the funeral will be communicated at a later date.
Labour Party Candidate Clayton Barbara also expressed his condolences, sharing the last photo of them together, taken only a few days before. He thanked him for his honesty, and the long discussions they’d had in the past. He also thanked him for the pushing him to be advance in his political career, and for his active involvement in the band club.
The numerous comments and messages included things like “if all the men were like him the world would be a better place” and described him as “such a sweet person”.
