A health care worker at Mount Carmel Hospital was one of the individuals who tested positive for coronavirus, a government spokesperson has confirmed to Newsbook.com.mt.
Malta registered six new coronavirus cases following 931 swab tests carried out in the past 24 hours. The newly registered cases were related to a known cluster that of an individual who had attended a weekend-long party at a St Julian’s hotel, and subsequently tested positive for coronavirus.
The spokesperson told this newsroom that the ward in which the person works will be closed off while patients and hospital staff will be placed under mandatory quarantine.
Patients who are in the ward and hospital staff that came in close contact with the person who tested positive will undergo swab tests.
The health authorities have urged those who attended ‘Hotel Takeover’ to come forward and test themselves for coronavirus.
