From this Monday, workers at Mater Dei Hospital will have to pay €2 per day if they make use of the hospital’s parking.
Sources explained to Newsbook.com.mt this strike will be take place tomorrow starting at 7am, although the unions did not place strike orders and refused to help them.
In turn, Mater Dei CEO, Ivan Falzon, told Newsbook.com.mt a new contractor will be in charge of parking at Mater Dei Hospital.
A woman who works at Mater Dei and wished to remain anonymous told Newsbook.com.mt she is a single mother with three children. She explained how from a €950 wage she is asked to spend about €50 a month to be able to park near the hospital.
She also said that after discussions, they were offered vouchers of €20 a month for public transport service.
The other solution, the mother explained, is to park in the centre of San Gwann and walk to Mater Dei daily.
