Bars, discotheques and nightclubs are now subject to the same regulations governing mass events in a bid to limit the spread of Covid-19, on the strength of a new legal notice.
Legal Notice 329 of 2020 simply amends the regulations, which were themselves introduced last week, to specify that the three categories of places of entertainment are now subject to the same rules. It also confirms that any who fail to observe these rules could be fined €3,000 for every breach.
The regulations thus limit places of entertainment to a maximum capacity of one person per four square metres, with an upper limit of 100 in indoor venues and 300 outdoors.
Additionally, attendees are to gather in groups not exceeding 10 persons, keeping 2 metres apart from one another.
On Wednesday, the Malta Tourism Authority had announced that 12 establishments were found to be in breach of Covid-19 protocols through its inspections , and that these will be subject to further legal action.
