Diego Maradona issued a public apology for his comments after stating that England’s win over Colombia in the last 16 of the World Cup was a “theft”.
England managed to reach the quarter finals thanks to a penalty shootout after the match had ended 1-1. The Argentinian legend criticized the decisions of American referee Mark Geiger.
Maradona posted a video on Instagram so as to apologize for his controversial behaviour whilst stating that he respects the difficult job carried out by both FIFA and the referee committee. The former Napoli player also asked for pardon following an offensive gesture towards South Korean fans who had greeted him by calling out his name.
