Man to be extradited to Hungary

A Hungarian man will be extradited back to his home country after he was arrested last Wednesday.

The 60-year-old man was found guilty and sentenced to four years’ imprisonment for aggravated theft in Hungary but had escaped to Malta.

A European Arrest Warrant was subsequently issued and he was arrested in Msida. The man was living in Ħamrun.

The man faced extradition proceedings on Saturday where he did not challenge the extradition request.

Police inspector Mark Galea prosecuted.
