A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder of a 37-year-old man who was stabbed to death on Triq il-Ġifen, Qawra at around midnight on Sunday.
The man who is also a Nigerian national was arrested at St Julian’s in a joint operation by the Criminal Investigations Department and St Julian’s District Police. The suspect is currently being held at the lock up.
In an earlier statement, the police said that following an argument in a bar, the incident took place which left a Nigerian man fighting for his life. He was given first aid by the medical team which arrived on site and was later rushed to hospital only to be certified dead an hour later.
Another man is still being questioned by the police over the incident.
The police did not say how many people were involved in the argument.
Duty Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo is leading the magisterial inquiry into the case.
The police are investigating the case.
