A 64-year-old man was released on bail after allegedly attacking his daughter’s boyfriend with a knife during an argument on Saturday.
The man was arraigned on Sunday before a Magistrate’s Court presided over by Magistrate Doreen Clarke. He was charged with grievously injuring the man, carrying a knife during the commission of a crime, driving without a licence and breaching the peace.
The man pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The incident happened on Saturday in Pjazza Medjatriċi in Ħaż-Żabbar at 6.30pm.
The defence team composed of Michael Sciriha, Lucio Sciriha and Matthew Xuerb requested bail on behalf of the accused.
The magistrate upheld the request and granted the man bail against a deposit of €200 and a personal guarantee of €4,000.
Lawyers Franco Debono and Francesca Zarb appeared as parte civile.
