A Libyan man was remanded in custody after allegedly attempting to stop traffic while wielding an unlicensed knife in Trid il-Mosta in Lija.
The 25-year-old who lives in Ħamrun was arrested on Sunday at 9.20pm.
His actions were said to have caused a motorbike accident resulting in grievous injuries to the motorcyclist. The man also allegedly started reacting violently while being arrested, insulting the officers who accompanied him on the way to hospital and in the hospital itself.
The man, who appeared in court with a bandaged leg, pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated robbery; voluntarily causing serious injury to a motorcyclist; damaging third party property; disturbing public peace; carrying a knife without a license; and insulting and disobeying police officers.
The accused was not granted bail after the prosecutor insisted that this was a criminal act against society.
