A 32-year-old man was handed a suspended sentence after admitted to having threatened and harassed the mother of his son on Sunday.
Rion Azzopardi, of Vittoriosa, was charged with harassing his former partner and the mother of his son, who is also pregnant with another child.
Police Inspector Eman Hayman who led the prosecution, urged the court to impose conditions that would place the children’s safety first.
Appearing before presiding magistrate Doreen Clarke, Azzopardi admitted to having sent messages threatening his former partner with violence.
Upon accepting the guilty plea by the accused, the court imposed a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years, noting that no actual violence had taken place.
The man was fined €500 and imposed a protection order in favour of the victim.
