Man gets 3 years in jail for Gzira car thefts

A man has been given three years in jail after being found guilty of a string of thefts from cars on the island.

27-year-old Marphil Gauci appeared before Magistrate Doreen Clarke today where he was found guilty of the thefts over a three-month span. The thefts totalled €2,329.

The court heard that Gauci had stolen a phone from a parked car on 8th August. Some months later, he stole items from another parked car in Msida. He was also accused of damaging two other vehicles. The latest incident took place on last Wednesday.

Some of the items stolen by the defendant which were recovered, were presented to the court. During searches, the police found a device used to break car windows.
