Man becomes 47th Covid-19 victim

A 68-year-old man died after testing positive for coronavirus, the health authorities announced on Wednesday. The man became the 47th victim of this pandemic.

The man was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital on 27 September and tested positive on the same day.

The man was in intensive care and died at the ITU earlier during the day.

This was the second death in just over 24 hours, after a 72-year-old woman died on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the health authorities reported 155 new coronavirus cases after 2,823 swab tests were carried out in the previous 24 hours. The number of active cases stands at 1,649.

The Ministry of Health, while offering its condolences to the relatives of the man, called on the people to continue to follow the appeals of the Department of Health, including frequent hand washing, social distancing, and mask use.
