A 32-year-old man was arrested in St Julian’s on Saturday morning after he was reported for breaching public order.

The police received about an individual at a hotel on Triq Schreiber at around 5.30am. Arriving at the hotel, the police spoke to the individual, and he accepted to leave the hotel only to return two hours later.

Hotel employees barred the Spanish national from entering. The man then went on to damage a motorcycle parked outside the hotel. The police was once again called to assist. Once the police officers were on site, his behaviour changed and he started insulting them and eventually ran away.

The man was subsequently caught on Triq Gort when he resisted arrested. He allegedly started kicking the officers, spat at them and bit a police constable. The man was escorted to St Julian’s police station where a search yielded a green substance suspected to be an illegal drug.

The man was then taken away to the Police Headquarters pending further investigation.

Police are expected to arraign the man on Sunday.
