Man accused of threatening and stealing remanded in custody

A 37-year-old man was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to threatening a man with a broken bottle to steal his watch worth over €4,500.

The incident happened in Pieta’ on the 22nd of August at around 9:30 and 10 am.

The accused denied holding the man against his will. He also denied he threatened him with violence and that he stole a motorcycle from Marsascala in July and driving without a licence or an insurance cover.

In court the man denied relapsing and breaching police bail conditions as he failed to turn up at the police depot.

Defence lawyers Franco Debono and Francesca Zarb requested bail but Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras denied the request, saying that the man has no fixed address.
