Minister for Foreign Affairs Carmelo Abela presented €55,000 to Palestine.

During a visit in Palestine, the Minister explained that this money will be divided into two grants – €5,000 the Palestinian Prime Minister to restore the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, and €50,000 to UNRWA for give aid to refugees. These funds were in addition the €55,000 Malta donated earlier this year.

The rationale behind this visit was the second closing cycle of the Joint Intergovernmental Committee between Malta and Palestine, which led to agreement on a number of initiatives in the fields of trade, culture, social affairs, and education.

Malta also offered to train a number of Palestinian diplomats.
