Malta is willing to serve as a bridge-builder between the Israelis and the Palestinians, as it has excellent bilateral relations that it enjoys with both.
This was reaffirmed by Minister for Foreign Affairs Carmelo Abela, who said that Malta can serve as an opportunity to restart the peace process between the two countries. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been ongoing for years, based over who gets what land and how it’s controlled.
Minister Abela went on to say that Malta will continue to support conditions which will lead to the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He also stressed that the European Union and the United States should collaborate and move forward with a common mission to help end the conflict.
He also mentioned Malta’s financial contribution to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), as well as the granting of scholarships to Palestinian students in Malta.
