According to SOS Mediterranea, Maltese and Italian authorities are not allowing the 141 migrants on board of MV Aquarius to enter a Maltese port.
Last June, the same vessel was denied entry and sailed to Marseilles after it was granted permission by the French Government.
In a Tweet, the NGO said that it had to stop its journey to await further instructions.
UPDATE: Maritime authorities from #Malta and #Italy inform #Aquarius that they will not grant 141 people onboard a place of safety to disembark. #Aquarius has now reached a standby position exactly between Malta and Italy and is awaiting further guidance. pic.twitter.com/Dc1gjK4dvj

Yesterday, the same organisation together with Doctors Without Borders pleaded with European Governments and maritime authorities to open any port for the migrants and to facilitate help in the centre of the Mediterranean.
