Lourdes pilgrimage group back in Malta

The annual pilgrimage to Lourdes for the sick, organised by the Archdiocesan Society (UMTAL), has returned to Malta.

Glen, the guide dog

The group of 156 people and Glen the guide dog left for Lourdes on the 16th of July. A team of doctors, nurses, carers and lay volunteers gave up their free time and, at their own expense, enrolled to look after over 40 patients and ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all. A number of relatives also accompanied the patients.

This religious journey was led by the Chaplain of the Society and Archbishop’s delegate Fr Joseph Mizzi, parish priest of Sta. Lucia. One of the highlights of this pilgrimage is the celebration of Mass in Maltese at Our Lady’s Grotto.

Non-profit making voluntary organisation UMTAL has been making this pilgrimage possible for people who would not otherwise be able to visit this Holy Sanctuary every year since 1930.

Those interested in joining next July’s pilgrimage as volunteers, patients or pilgrims may contact UMAL via email: info@umtalmalta.org or through their Facebook page.
