Watch: UPE concerned about coronavirus

The Union of Professional Workers, UPE, has recommended to the Ministry for Education that in view of the latest development on coronavirus the government should close all schools.

During a press conference, on Wednesday, the UPE said that such a measure should be discussed with the relevant health authorities.

The UPE stated that the government should take all the necessary measures to protect teachers and all staff working in schools.

The union has already presented its recommendations to the Ministry of Education and Employment. The recommendations include measures of prevention against a possible spread of coronavirus in schools.

Grahan Sansone, Chief Executive Officer of UPE Voice of the Workers said that they presented the Ministry numerous concerns both by the educators and parents.

The concerns raised by teachers and parents were communicated to the union throughout these last few days, said Sansone.

Sansone also said that the UPE decided to present its recommendations to the Education Ministry in view of the latest development on coronavirus both on a local and international level.
