The Superintendent for Public Health announced that in the last 24 hours 2 new coronavirus cases were confirmed.

Today the press conference is being held at the Malta Life Sciences Park in San Gwann and only journalists will be allowed to enter.

8 more patients have recovered from coronavirus. The number of active cases now stands at 51.

The two new cases announced today are relatives of a person who arrived from Pakistan and had also tested positive to coronavirus.

In view of more measures to be lifted as from this Friday, Prof. Gauci reiterated her appeal to the public to use face masks or visors, to maintain social distancing and the importance of personal hygiene to avoid transmitting or contracting COVID-19.

Prof. Gauci said that the local transmission rate is currently very low and regarding if vulnerable people can go out and return to workplaces, Prof. Gauci said that yes, today a legal notice will be published so that vulnerable people can also return to normality.

One person every 4 meter squared is important to be maintained said the Superintendent for Public Health. She also explained that in restaurants and bars people are not obliged to wear a facemask or a visor but the staff working at the establishments need to wear the masks/face shields.

Prof. Gauci confirmed that until today no Floriana FC supporters tested positive to coronavirus.
