The General Council of the Nationalist Party is currently being convened, in which the Councillors will be voting on Adrian Delia’s future as PN Leader.

The Electoral Commission of the Nationalist Party has announced that 376 Councillors (23.06%) voted in today’s session. They join the 484 Councilors who already voted in the early vote on Wednesday 29 July. In total, to date 860 Councillors have voted (52.76%) of the eligible Councilors voting amounting to 1,630

The Council has to decide between two options, both of which will lead to the Party convening a general conference at which members will be invited to vote. Delia prefers that members have a vote of confidence in him, but those who are against him, including the majority of PN MPs, want an election for a new leader.

This is after Delia lost two votes of confidence, one in the PN Parliamentary Group and the other among the Executive Committee.

484 Councillors have already voted in Malta and Gozo, however, this equates to a minority as there are 1,630 Councillors eligible to vote.

Friday’s voting took place between 6.00pm and 8.00pm, and will then continue on Saturday between 8.00am and 6.00pm at the PN’s Headquarters, and between 9.00am and 4.00pm at Ta’ Sannat.
