Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

Nationalist Party and Opposition leader Bernard Grech said that with Robert Abela as Prime Minister nothing has changed as he not only continues to defend Joseph Muscat, Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi but also those around them.

Bernard Grech, as he was interviewed by Net TV journalist Robert Cremona, said that despite of the latest revelations about the Malta Financial Services, MFSA head, Joe Cuschieri, government showed that it is ready to defend those who are connected with the person accused of complicity in masterminding the murder of investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. “This is the message that our government is conveying to other countries,” said the PN leader.

On Wednesday it was revealed that the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) CEO Joseph Cuschieri, travelled with Yorgen Fenech in 2018 as his consultant.

Yorgen Fenech is accused of being involved in the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Cuschieri confirmed that he did go on a trip to Las Vegas with Fenech, but that he went on the trip at a time when he had left the MGA. Therefore, he was invited on the trip to advice on regulatory matters as the former regulator of the gaming sector. Dr Edwina Licari, board member at the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) was also on this trip.

“We are economically dependent on consumerism and IIP Scheme”

The PN leader said that the governments has to stop from depending on consumerisim and the IIP Scheme especially since the European Union has warned Malta about the IIP Scheme.

He then referred to his speech in parliament as a reply to the budget for 2021 announced the week before. Bernard Grech said that he explained in detail where mistakes were or could have been done in relation to an increase in the deficit for example. The PN leader said that the PN wants to present a long term economic vision and stated that the government needs to start thinking long term.
