Today marks the start of the liturgical celebrations of the Easter Triduum.
Currently a Chrism mass is being celebrated by the Archbishop and priests of the Archdiocese of Malta at St John’s co-Cathedral in Valletta.
This mass underscores the unity willed by Jesus Christ among believers, especially those that have been entrusted to continue his mission.
During the mass, priests will renew the priestly promises which they originally made during their ordination. This shows a sign of commitment to remain united with themselves and the Archbishop.
Archbishop Scicluna will also bless three oils – the oil of catechumens, the oil of the infirm, and the oil of the holy chrism – which will be used in teh administration of the sacraments throughout the Archdiocese until next year’s Maundy Thursday.
Live streaming services are provided by the Communications Office of the Archdiocese of Malta www.knisja.mt.
