The people should not suffer due to high electricity bills when the international price of oil crashed to a record low at $0 a barrel. The government must assume the responsibility and intervene to address this issue especially in view of the coronavirus developments, stated Adrian Delia, Opposition and Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia during an interview on the PN’s media on Saturday morning.
The PN leader mentioned the deal government signed with Electrogas for 18 years. A deal which the Opposition have been describing is as corrupt.
This matter was also tackled during a press conference by the Nationalist Party on Thursday by PN MP Ryan Callus who explained that using the interconnector and the BWSC power station to generate electricity is cheaper for the government than to buy it from the Electrogas consortium.
Regarding the coronavirus pandemic, PN leader Adrian Delia referred to the caution exerted by the Superintendent for Public Health Prof. Charmaine Gauci to implement measures that help contain the virus and avoid local transmissions.
Delia said that it is irresponsible of Prime Minister Robert Abela to give the impression that soon our lives will go back to normality and says that it is fine for the elderly to go out for a walk. This contradicts what Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne and Prof.Gauci appeal to the public, said Adrian Delia.
Regarding the IIP Scheme, better known as the cash-for-passport programme the PN leader said that the scheme as is has tarnished our country’s reputation.
