It is important that one seeks a balance in such situations, Professor Mary Anne Lauri said during an interview on Newsbook Hour on 103FM. Speaking about the ongoing situation with the novel coronavirus, Covid-19, Professor Lauri said that there are people who panic. She cautioned the media on the words used when reporting on the coronavirus.
She explained that it was important to emphasize on how it can be controlled, and how can one participate and do their part.
Professor Lauri maintained that anxiety could make one unwell. She added that while everyone knows what the precautionary measures are, some people might feel anxious just the same.
She also warned against the spread of fake news, urging people to check the information before sharing on their social media account. She added that one should be responsible when using social media.
