Lent 2020: Pope Francis invites the faithful to embrace the paschal mystery

Today, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent which will be the start of the 40 days of reflection and preparation for the celebration of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Pope Francis has released his message for Lent 2020: “We implore you on behalf of Christ: be reconciled to God”

In his message, the holy father invites the faithful to embrace the paschal mystery, the passion, death and resurrection, as the basis for conversion.

The Holy Father emphasizes the importance of prayer during Lent in order to experience his mercy. Pope Francis also explains how God is engaged in a dialogue of salvation with humans despite our weaknesses and failings.

Pope Francis concludes his message for Lent 2020 explaining that our Lenten celebration will open hearts to hear God’s call to be reconciled and to an open a sincere dialogue with God.
