Archbishop Charles Scicluna Said that legality and solidarity go hand in hand.

On Twitter, Mgr. Scicluna said that this is the moment “for Malta and Europe to do the right thing”. His comments were referring to the hundreds of migrants currently being kept on four boats chartered by the Maltese Government.

Mgr. Scicluna said that he supports “the ongoing negotiations that are aiming at finding a fair and equitable response to the plight of these brethren of ours.”

This is the moment for Malta and Europe to do the right thing: the principles of legality and solidarity go hand in hand. I support the ongoing negotiations that are aiming at finding a fair and equitable response to the plight of these brethren of ours.

Newsbook.com.mt sent questions to the AFM and to the Office of the Prime Minister asking about the situation onboard the Europa II. The vessel was seen sailing along Malta’s coast after reports that the migrants onboard became aggressive after being kept on the boat for weeks. Newsbook didn’t receive any replies to its questions by the time this article was published.
