78 employees of the 6 companies owned by Keith Schembri were present at Court today to wait for a decision on their wages.
This comes after the OPM’s former Chief of Staff Keith Schembri’s assets were frozen following suspicions of money laundering. The employees are asking that some of these assets be relinquished in order to have their wages paid.
It was argued in Court that to deny employees their wages in an unnecessary and excessive measure, and due to this, their rights have been breached. Another court sitting is scheduled for Thursday on this matter.
On Saturday, Schembri had filed an urgent court application for the same matter. He requested that the court releases sums of money so that his employees could receive their salaries as per usual.
The companies which belong to Schembri are; Kasco Limited, Kasco Recycling Limited, Its Good Limited, Kasco Engineering Limited, Berner Malta Limited and Kasco Holdings Limited.
