The Democratic Party said that the elderly should be kept in the community during a press conference in which the PD highlighted irregularities in St. Vincent de Paule. Party Leader Anthony Buttigieg claimed that the government is favouring “friends of friends” over the elderly by favouring private interests and pro-business interests first.
Buttigieg asked how come Finance Minister Edward Scicluna was not aware of the multimillion contract awarded questioning whether the Prime Minister has reduced Scicluna’s portfolio.
The PD criticised the Nationalist Party for remaining silent on the issue whilst they highlighted the fact that the PN’s leader Adrian Delia met with the contractors who were awarded the contract.
PD has asked the Permanent Committee for Public Accounts to meet with urgency and to refer the case to the Auditor General for further investigation.
