Judicial protest filed calling for immediate publication of tunnel studies


Twelve organizations filed a judicial protest against the Minister for Transport and the Planning Authority to reveal all studies pertaining to the proposed tunnel between Malta and Gozo.

The objective of this protest is to push the authorities to publish all the studies so that citizens may develop an opinion based on facts. These organisations asked for the carrying out of a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), which is required by national and EU laws.

The proposed tunnel has stirred up a lot of controversy in the past months. The organisations believe that these proposals can have negative consequences on the health, quality of life and environment on the people who live in Malta and Gozo.

The twelve organisations filing the judicial protest are:
