Jean Claude Micallef was sworn in as member of parliament this morning. The TV presenter was elected following a casual election held last month in order to replace Helena Dalli in Parliament. This following her appointment as European Commissioner for Equality.
Having been elected to represent the third district, the constituency returned Micallef as its representative.
The oath of office was taken Monday morning at the first parliamentary session following a long recess.
In his first speech as MP, Micallef said he was looking forward to this new challenge. He went on to thank all those who supported him in the past years.
During the same sitting, Prime Minister Robert Abela accepted Minister Justyne Caruana’s resignation from Cabinet.
